Fine Motor Fun for Kindergarten Social Distancing Easily Washable

Help me give my students a variety of engaging washable toys so that even during COVID-19 they are able to engage in fun creative fine motor activities.

My Students

The best part about my job as a kindergarten teacher is the children who brighten my classroom each day. They are happy and kind and everything that we are doing is their favorite. Their smiles are contagious. They thrive on routine and get so excited every time they learn something new.

We all come from different backgrounds but when we come together we ARE "the purple class." It doesn't matter what is going on outside our classroom because our cozy classroom is a safe and happy place to play and learn together.

COVID-19 has made it harder but not impossible for us to get back to that.

My Project

The manipulatives that I have chosen for this project have many pieces and offer a variety of ways for the children to build and create all while remaining socially distant. The great thing about these small building toys is that children will be building and strengthening their fine motor skills while using them. There are waffle, magnetic and bristle blocks.

As we all know, with COVID-19, nothing is "normal" about going back to school this year.

The children can pick a bin of toys to keep at their desk at the beginning of the week to use. The bins will allow the children's materials to remain separate from one another. The laundry bags will allow for easy cleaning of toys at the end of each week. I have chosen enough of a variety that children will be able to choose a new activity each week.
