Help me give my students the novel The Hate U Give because they will be able to discover how one person is able to take a stand on such an important issue.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The first thing that comes to mind when I think of my students is their strong voice. They are aware of their needs and are not afraid to advocate for them.
Effectively demonstrating their needs and interest through classroom discussions, writings, or activities, they take an active role in their education.
My students demonstrate an eagerness to cultivate a classroom environment that reinforces their identity as effective leaders who are proud of who they are. They are able to endure what life gives them because of their strong sense of self.
My Project
The Hate U Give is a culturally relevant text that would enrich my students learning because of the strong character portrayed in the novel. The protagonist is a teenage girl who is struggling to find her voice. Throughout the book, we see the progression of her character and how she is able to develop a stronger sense of self. By using this book, the students would have a greater understanding of how the literary elements theme, tone, and point-of-view enhance the story.
This will enhance my students’ learning because they will be able to relate to the protagonist and the struggles she faces.
The novel will allow the students to critically think about real issue and the multiple points of views that are attached to such issues. It will engage them to have an authentic dialogue about the role the protagonist takes on.
