Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are growing up in the age where educators need to be attentive to all types of learning styles. "Fair is not giving everyone the same thing, but rather giving everyone the things they need to be successful." They crave learning with technology, partner work, and a variety of hands-on activities.
My students come from low socio economic backgrounds where most students receive free breakfast and lunch daily.
My students are all English Language Learners. My students are eager to learn. Our schools distinguishing practice is "Technology". I am always looking for ways to integrate technology into all subject areas (STEAM- Science, technology, engineering, art, and math). I believe that keeping students engaged in learning is the key to success!
My Project
The Julia Cook books plus others listed will help drive daily instruction to students who have deficits in social- emotional skills. Julia Cook has a way of writing that explains things to children in a way they understand. These skills need to be explicitly taught with various materials to help the students learn the skills to increase their independence. My students and I love Julia Cook books and the lessons that they teach us! I have seen change in my kiddos from reading some of the books, especially Tattle Tongue! This allows the students, teacher, and family to work together to provide the very best education for them.
