Finding Magic Through the Pages of a Book!

Help me give my students access to a vast variety of literature and flexible seating. With the nonfiction and fantasy books in my cart, my fifth graders will have the ability to choose books that interest them!

My Students

With new curriculum and an evolving world around us, it is more important than ever that every child receives access to materials necessary to learn and succeed in and outside of the school environment. I have recently moved from my position as the intervention teacher, to a fifth grade teacher position at El Rincon. As I was working with small groups at all elementary levels, I am in need of some seating and books that will support the flexible learning of 30 fifth graders.

This project focuses on providing students with flexible seating options that enable students to work in areas of choice, as well as appropriate leveled books that encourage students to explore the world of literature.

By providing students flexible seating, they are able to choose the type of seat that works best for them. This supports their ability to focus which enhances their learning experience. The leveled books gives students access to grade appropriate literature. Students need a variety of books to choose from, in order to choose books of interest. As the teacher, I want to be able to provide text that inspires students to love to read!

My Project

Moving into fifth grade has been a wonderful experience, but moving to an upper grade, I am in need of books at my current students levels. I believe that students need choice in order to love reading. It is greatly important that students have access to books of multiple genres and themes. This order contains books that's levels meet my students individual needs. There are books addressing standard based scientific concepts and are historically aligned with what we are addressing in class. I also filled my cart with books that interest my students.

This year my kiddos my kiddos are passionate readers with a love for fantasy books and series!

I have personally selected fantasy books at each of my students levels. This enables them to find books of interest in our classroom library. If students are eager to read their engagement and learning will exceed all expectations. Do what you love and you do it well!
