My students need go-to-books suggested by author Jennifer Serravallo, and high-interest books written in Spanish to enjoy during their read-to-self time.

My Students

My class consists of 25 students living in a rural community. My students have diverse backgrounds including homeless to affluent.

Students in my class include diverse language and cultural homes.

I have approximately 30% of students in my class who come from families who are English as second language families. Because I have diverse language learners, I am hoping to build community through a love of sharing books with one another.

My students are happy, busy learners who thrive when given opportunities to have hands-on learning experiments.

My Project

My students spend much of their day reading books in our classroom! I want to provide books that will help model reading strategies that children can practice as they are reading books of their choice.

Please help me build my Spanish library!

I want to provide many popular titles such as the Diary of a Whimpy Kid series and the Magic Treehouse series for my language learners to enjoy! It is important for children to read books in their home language.

When children are able to choose good-fit, high-interest books...they will want to read more than if I choose every title for them!
