My Students

I am teaching a new Fit for Life class to our junior high students this year. In this class they are given opportunities to explore different methods to build strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility. My students are enjoying the various activities that have been introduced to them to improve their overall well-being.

My students are high energy and love being active during the school day!

Our school population is low income and student involvement in physical activity afterschool is limited for most students. As a result, we have to make the most of our time together during class.

Living in northwest Montana, my students are contained to inside activities for the majority of the school year. By incorporating a variety of physical activities, I can continue to grow their excitement to lead an active lifestyle and be the best versions of themselves: happy and healthy!

My Project

Research has shown that it's important to get all four types of exercise: endurance, strength, balance, and flexibility. Each one has different benefits. Doing one kind also can improve your ability to do the others, and variety helps reduce boredom and risk of injury.

By incorporating rowing activities into the fitness routines of my students, they will receive the total body benefits of this new, exciting, and low-impact exercise.

I have noticed that my students are stuck in the rut of running circles around the gym as we train their bodies aerobically. I need to shake things up a bit to inject more variety into their cardiovascular strength and endurance training.

The product that I have selected will give my students the top notch experience of rowing. The beauty of rowing is that it is accessible to all ability levels and all students will feel the benefits of this total body activity in a short amount of time. Keep rowing, they'll get there!
