My Students

I work in a small rural low-income school district. My students are faced with many challenges in and out of school. It is my job to make their time in my classroom as enjoyable as possible.

My classroom is a Special Education/Title room, the majority of my students have developmental delays in one or more areas of development.

It is my responsibility to provide them with a wide range of learning experiences. We do a lot of hands-on and movement activities. It is my goal to continue to upgrade our classroom material, so I can continue to give them meaningful educational experiences through play.

My Project

I am requesting the app Proloquo2Go. Proloquo2Go is a full-featured augmentative communication application (AAC) that offers picture only, picture and text, and keyboard options for message formulation.

Not being able to speak isn’t the same as having nothing to say.

This app will allow my students to be able to communicate with peers and adults. I am also requesting cube chairs that will allow my students to sit at circle time, with their communication devices, and focus on the task for the day. We are a very active group of young learners. Focusing is a challenging task.
