This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students represent the beautiful diversity of coming from all parts of the city. They are passionate about learning and seeking independence. This is the most transformative part of their development. They are energetic, inquisitive, and ready for opportunities.

My students bring such unique perspectives and experiences in the classroom.

This dynamic further enhances their creativity and potential for learning. I am in awe of the manner in which they challenge each other's ideas and build off of them to gain a better understanding.

My Project

Technology and finance is growing at such an alarming rate. Financial knowledge is a major component of our nations' inequitable distribution of wealth. Far too often people get a late start to building financial independence. I would like to encourage students to pursue their goals and dreams and be able to afford to be the very best human beings they can be.

It is important for students to learn about finance so they can understand the power of mathematics in improving their lives.

This project would allow me to give students exposure to money and investment in a less intimidating structure. It could also give me more ideas for lessons, projects, and problems.

My students often question the significance of learning academic mathematics, and rightfully so. Abstract concepts are difficult for students to find purpose in if their curiosity is not piqued. Students are ALWAYS interested in money. I believe students can and have a right to make a positive impact in our world. Money should never hold them back from doing so.
