This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of amazing fourth graders who believe in the power of YET. They are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! There is no end to their inquisitive ways and love for learning.

It is amazing to see their faces light up when they learn or create something new.

We love using Legos to help our creativity and problem solving strategies grow. We have great insightful discussions that allow us each day to develop a better understanding and acceptance of the world around us.

We form a wonderful family with students who come from all walks of life. They come from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. This diversity is what makes every day different and unique. I have students with many different academic abilities. They are the reason why I wake up every day full of excitement to see what the new day will hold.

My Project

Our Classroom will bring Financial Literacy to live. My students will earn a desk pet of their own (eraser) and as a class classroom pet (fish). They will earn money for completing classroom and home tasks and get paid on a weekly basis.

Students will put their financial literacy skills to practice as they earn money and then have the opportunity to go to our Lego Pet Store where they can buy items their pets need (food, housing, beds, etc.) or items they want (toys and accessories) or they can save for an additional pets or larger accessories.

Students will learn the value of working to earn money, saving, and making wise decisions while shopping and caring for their pets.
