Seventh grade math is a place where perseverance is practiced and determination is key. My students learn mathematical skills along with other concepts that they will carry with them for years to come.
I teach at a school where students hold themselves and each other to a high standard of excellence!
With classes that are full of diverse mathematical abilities, I am excited to provide them with learning experiences that work best for each student. We have students of military families that are in and out of our communities often. It is my goal to provide the knowledge they need no matter where they are in this world. My students value their education and are willing to do what it takes to learn!
My Project
In my classroom, as a teacher, I try to make magical moments each day. Creating a magical environment similar to that of Disney Land! This is a professional development opportunity that could help bring the magic back into my classroom which takes place at Disney World! I will be learning how Disney creates and manages this magic. Admission to the parks is necessary because that is where all of the teacher learning will occur. Our learning will take us through the magical kingdom of Disney to learn inquiry based teaching strategies in the classroom.
This would be a professional development opportunity and experience that could not be found anywhere else but Disney World.
Our instructors have created a dream professional development that includes incredible adventures throughout our time including inquiry based scavenger hunts that will help us find information on how the park is ran and what it costs. This would allow be to come back to the classroom and apply some of these same inquiry based ideas and turn it into project based learning in my math classroom.
I would have the opportunity to experience the magic first hand and become inspired to bring it back to Kansas! I will leave knowing how to create inquiry-based financial literacy lessons for my students that I can incorporate in my community. I need this training so I can replicate my experience for my students.
