My students need a variety of seating options such as cushions, stools, and a ball chair for their classroom environment. Through this project, we will be able to get rid of the traditional desks that have attached chairs and get tables that will allow for more natural collaboration to happen. We also will have the ability for every single student to choose from a variety of seats, a seat that fits the student's need for that particular day. Students that like to move while they work will now have that option. My students will learn to take ownership of their learning styles by creating their own learning environment daily. Seventh grade is a year during which students learn math facts that are crucial to their future success in the subject. They will carry these facts on for years to come, so providing them with a setting that they want to learn in is important. Mathematics is often a subject that students struggle with, so creating a learning climate that works best for that individual learner is crucial. I believe that students flourish in a class where no seat is the same, because no student is the same.
