The kindergarten students at our school are amazing. I have 22 kids in my kindergarten classroom. Our school is a Title I school. Breakfast and lunch are provided for each student. These kids come in each day with smiles on their faces ready to learn. It is exciting to see how much they learn by the end of the school year. I am still amazed when I hear them sound out words and read for the first time. I am always so proud. Children need to work very hard and stay focused during the day. I try to provide a comfortable environment and exciting activities for my students. This will help each student stay engaged and excited about learning. I provide as many resources as I can when my budget allows. This is why I need your help.
My Project
My project will give my students a strong beginning in math. I want to give them the best start possible to be future financial learners. We work on many math skills throughout the year, such as counting to 100, recognizing numbers, and adding. They need a good foundation before they can begin to understand counting and recognizing money.
My students love math stations.
I have four stations and fill them with math activities that help students learn while having fun. We start with a mini-lesson. I teach a new lesson and then it's time for practice. My students divide into their stations and continue learning. I try to buy or make as many new station items as I can, but I need your help. We are in need of new station items to help keep students engaged.
This real working cash register will be perfect for math centers. The students can count pennies and pretend to give change. We use pennies at the beginning of the year for counting and making piles to 20. They can pretend they have a store using the play food. The Count and Link game will help strengthen students' counting skills. They can use the magnetic numbers to practice putting numbers in order and recognizing numbers. These math activities will give my students a great foundation for a strong future in financial literacy. I want my students to have the best start possible in math.
