I am a first-year, middle-school science teacher serving a low-income community in CA.

Currently, my 130+ students share a handful of markers (some non-functional) and crayons that make it difficult for them to beautify their final drafts of science projects (3D cell models, 3D DNA models, charts/graphs in labs). Students often become uninterested in their work when they are unable to present it the way they want it presented.

A simple solution to this problem is that my students requested a class set of markers and crayons that all 6 periods could share throughout the day. These crayons and markers will make sure that my students remain engaged in their work, and will allow them to take ownership of it. Furthermore, beautifying their work will make them more eager to share it on the walls or take it home to their families.

Your fulfillment of this request will empower my students to take ownership of their work. A small request like crayons and markers has enough leverage to have a high-impact in the classroom. You will help my kids create beautiful science projects that will be proudly displayed throughout our school and community.
