Film, Video Clips, and Literature: Production by the Student

My students need three copies of Adobe Photoshop and Premiere 7. These will be used by the students on our classroom computers for production of short films and presentations over the novels read as well as for the editing/production of our middle school student broadcast.

The first take when filming is not always the charm. My eighth grade English Language Arts students want a program to produce and edit short films/video clips over the novels they read. They would like to be able to send these productions to their military parents currently serving overseas. Additionally, they want to use the software for editing and production of the middle school student news broadcast.

Utilizing film/video clips for classroom novel projects and news adds an additional dimension to student learning. My students also consistently seek ways to include deployed parents in their everyday lives. While sending complete poster projects overseas is somewhat daunting, a short film/video clip attached to an email keeps the lines of communication open and is fairly easily accessed in today's war zones.

Teenagers love to represent information visually. The computer program will allow my students to utilize the classroom computers to represent their understanding of the novels read and the community/school news visually. This computer software offers the students the ability to produce projects and share them proudly.

As a donor, you make it possible for the students to produce and edit their films/video clips into productions that they will be able to proudly share with both other students and their own parents. Your donation allows these students to see their English Language Arts skills used in ways that go far beyond simple black and white text.
