My kids are absolutely incredible. They come from extremely diverse backgrounds, work so hard in and out of school to prepare for their futures, and love their community. Specifically, the students this project would be helping are in high school and could use more easily-accessible technology in their classrooms.
The students I serve are some of the top-performing students in our state, yet due to allotment of state funding rules, we don't get as much funding as we'd like.
Helping us complete this goal would totally change the types of learning they are able to complete in our upper-level school.
My Project
This year I've found myself teaching AP Literature to a group of students who lost their junior prom, senior homecoming, and countless other events. In an attempt to give them something big to look forward to, I created the AP Literature Film Festival. Each of my students will be a part of a group that is working on a short film based on one of our works.
After their films have been approved and edited, we will be hosting a screening in the gym for students enrolled in AP as well as a few faculty members.
My students are so excited about this and I'm working hard to make it something incredible for them. I want to give them a red carpet, awards, and swanky grab bags full of goodies like sunglasses, snacks, and cards, just like at an official Hollywood screening. I'll take care of the snacks and sparkling grape juice, but I definitely need some help in giving them everything they deserve, and that's where your donations come into play. Help me give my seniors an upbeat event to get them excited about their senior year again.
