Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Our students start every day with, "I pledge to be the best me I can be, showing respect, excellence, perseverance and integrity..." As the school nurse I want to give them resources and access to supplies that will help them continue to be the best they can be.

I welcome the help and support of the community, because like Malcolm X said, “When "I" is replaced with "WE" even illness becomes wellness.” Nursing is about more than just providing direct care.

Every interaction with a student is an opportunity for teaching them about health and self care skills. Having these supplies in place will make it so we have access educational materials to teach students about healthcare needs, have a healthy supply of snacks to feed them when the come to the nurse hungry and a handful of first aid supplies to share with the classroom teachers to take with them on field trips when the nurse cannot be there with them.
