Help me give my students exciting books they are able to read by themselves and also a collection of heart-warming books by famous authors I can read aloud to my class.

My students come from many different neighborhoods throughout the city of Philadelphia. Every child in my class receives a free breakfast and lunch everyday. Even though many of them suffer tremendous hardships at home, when they come through the doors of my classroom they are energetic, enthusiastic, and cheerful.
Our classroom is like a magical place for them where they have learned they can always feel safe, cared about, and respected by all.
Every child in my room honestly loves learning! The second they come in the classroom they peek on my desk and look all around in excitement to discover any clues about what we will be learning that day.
My students absolutely love to read but the saddest thing is our school is so poor we have no money to buy any books. Each child in my classroom has a special book bag. Two times a week they go "Book Shopping" for their own level books in our bins. Then, they find a comfortable place in our room to sit and read. Our biggest obstacle is our different level bins do not have enough books for all the students.
Reading one book is like eating one potato chip!
Our bins need to be filled with exciting and engaging books like the ones I picked out for this project. Research indicates if students are not successful readers by the end of second grade, they will never be able to catch up. I want my students to become the strongest readers they can be.
Exposing children to high quality literature, written by wonderful authors and with amazing illustrations is another important aspect of teaching children to be successful life-long readers. As part of this project I also ordered books I can read aloud to the students. Books written by famous authors like Kevin Henkes and Jan Brett.
I can not begin to express how excited seeing and reading new books makes my students. There is an old saying, "A Book is a Gift you can open again and again" and this proves to be so true for all my students.
