Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As of March 17th, my students have been virtually learning from home. The school has been closed due to the COVID-19 virus for the rest of the school year. Our area has been affected the most out of the Los Angeles area. With cases spiking as high as they are, return to school for this school year seems improbable. This presents a challenge, for my students and me, as we have had no in-person contact whatsoever. With upgrades to my technology, I will be able to better serve my students during this period of learning and teaching from home. Our school is a Title I school, which speaks to the degree of my student's poverty, where over 85% of my students have free or reduced-price lunch, and where many of my students traditionally do not have access to essentials, once they leave our school building.
My Project
We are continuing to move along as we learn from home. By having a second screen, I will be able to monitor, share and expose students to information in a quicker more concrete fashion.
I want to see my students as they follow along with daily lessons so I can better assist them.
It is difficult to see how my students are doing by having to toggle between the zoom screen and my work screen. I am looking forward to teaching, listening to student responses, and easing the way I monitor student progress.
