Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students are bi-literal and bilingual, which in itself makes them SUPER HEROES! Over 80% of our students come from high-poverty communities and our parents tend to work long hours.
Our SUPER HEROES are innovative, strive for excellence and creative.
Still, they rely on us (The School) for cognitive stimulation, daily encouragement and social emotional needs, and at times needing basic needs such as clothing and medical care. Many of our SUPER HEROES care for their younger siblings and themselves.
Although there are obstacles and barriers, our school's attendance is at 97% and the students are generally happy and ready for school.
My Project
We are requesting books on How to fill their buckets. These books will enhance their Emotional Intelligence. Students will read, practice and adopt principles of developing Emotional Intelligence by increasing their capacity to empathize with peers.
While using the curriculum Fill My Bucket, student would grasp the understanding of daily kindness, towards themselves and others.
Creating a special and safe academic environment that would enhance learning and growing.
Using Social Emotional Learning has been known to increase student's capacity to learn, engage and create while in a school environment. Especially students with high ACE's scores. We look forward to implementing such an amazing project for third and fourth grade students.
