This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach a diverse population of students, including honors, special education, and English language learners from many different cultural backgrounds and with different educational needs. We are a Title I school, meaning students come from lower socio-economic circumstances. I teach computer science to 16 sixth-grade classes yearly, with thirty students in each class. My students are located mainly in the Elmhurst and Corona areas of Queens, which were hit very hard by the pandemic. I teach many newcomer students who just came over, have little to no supplies, and need a lot of support.

Basic supplies are the key to success in the computer science classroom!

We just received four new 3D printers to our school but we are in need of more filament so that our STEM classes can create projects and use the 3D printers for projects throughout the school year. We will use the extra filament as soon as our current supply runs out which is very low right now so we are in need of new filament very soon!
