Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students are very sweet, inquisitive and smart first graders. They are not shy about letting me know when they do not have enough food at home to keep them from being hungry. I am happy to help by sending home snacks, especially on the weekend. Before they go home, I like to ask if everyone has something to eat at home. If not, I give them a few snacks to put in their backpack.
My students sometimes ask for snacks during the day and before they go home so that they can fight hunger in the evenings.
I am more than happy to send home food with them so that they can eat and snack as needed when they leave school.
The goal is to meet the needs of my students with soup, juice, chips, crackers, or cookies, and keep them from saying "I'm hungry" after school is out. That way, they can do their homework, play, and go to sleep happy and full.
