Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach dual language in an inclusion program to serve children with both English and Spanish. My school serves low-income, high poverty students. 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. My ultimate goal is to provide the best education and a safe learning environment for all of my students by supporting their everyday needs.
First graders love exploring and learning new things, they love using new technology and not to mention they love reading.
Preparing our students for the future is crucial for educational success.
Young minds need to be challenged, and no two students are the same. My students are all willing and ready to learn new things and enjoy sharing what they learned with family.
My Project
We need chips, cookies, drinks wash cloths and storage containers to keep our snacks fresh and ready for first graders. My students are so precious and innocent. Daily they will ask me for snacks and say "I'm hungry", "is it almost lunch time" and when they do this it breaks my heart. Coming from a high poverty community means most of my students have their last meal at school during lunch. Once they get home most of them don't see another meal until they get to school the next day for breakfast.
Having simple snacks in the classroom will fight hunger and help my first graders focus on learning.
These cookies, chips, drinks will be used to help fight hunger! Please help us by providing snacks.
