This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Strive for Five is a program at the school that encourage students to miss no more than five days in a 9 weeks period. If the students are present for school, they are able to learn more. The students try to be at school each and everyday. They are rewarded at the end of the 9 weeks by the principal. The students are from low-income households. The average class size is about 25. 100% of the students receive free and reduced lunch.
My Project
The flu season is upon us. Last year, we had a lot of students out with the flu. By providing students with cleaning supplies to keep the classroom environment clean, they will be able to be at school and not home with the flu. They will take pride in keeping the classroom clean and enjoying being at school with their peers. They will be in attendance at school to receive their Strive for Five rewards. The cleaning supplies will help maintain a clean classroom environment during the flu season. It will encourage students to be concern about their health and how to prevent catching the flu.
