Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are diverse and energetic! We are an urban district and we are beautiful!

I teach ELA and Social Studies to sixty students in fifth grade and each one has a story.

Sixty stories, sixty smiles, sixty hearts, sixty kids that are making great strides in my room this year. For some it is an easy journey, most are working very hard and some are struggling, tremendously.

Ultimately, every student will grow and progress in their own way, in their own time and add another chapter to the story. I'm honored to be a part of it. Join us!

My Project

My students LOVE to read! They are devouring my classroom library and have an appetite for more books that relate to our curriculum. We are learning about migrant workers, the dust bowl, the Mexican revolution, and so much more! We are delving into Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan and really enjoying the rich language, but we need more opportunities to read quality literature! The only way we will grow as readers is to READ! Every book added to our library brings joy and learning to my students. They need this so much. This is my second year with this amazing group of kids and I’ve seen them grow tremendously. Let’s not lose this momentum! I want to continue to give them what they crave, BOOKS!
