Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Bulletin boards! Yearbooks! Science projects! These are just a few uses that we will have for a classroom digital camera. If we have a camera, we will be able to more quickly and attractively document the awesome activities that happen every day in our class.

My 28 fifth graders attend a public school in a large metropolitan district.

They are bright, academically successful students who appreciate challenges and novelty. Several of them are identified as Gifted. They have a high aptitude for using technology, yet our school has only a few digital cameras for the entire campus to share. We would love to have a digital camera that would be at our disposal whenever we need it.

My Project

We are requesting a basic Sony Cyber-Shot camera. The students know how to charge cameras and how to take pictures, but they do not all have a high aptitude in transferring photos, placing them in files, applying them to documents, saving, and deleting. They have several exciting activities throughout the year such as choral performances, field trips, and science, social studies, and literature projects. The camera will be available to them to meet the challenge of using this form of technology. It will also help them document their science projects and create attractive slide shows and posters to present their work. They have access to computers in the classroom, and they will be able to transfer photos from their camera to the computer.

This project will allow students to greatly enhance their other projects.

It will be a valuable tool in helping the students learn patience, face the challenge of leaning something new, and become more proficient in fully accessing the technology available to them.
