Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 6th grade leaders are eager learners who thrive in a collaborative learning environment. They enjoy working together on projects that are both fun and educational. My classroom is filled with ambitious young minds, ready to come back to school and engage with one another to build a collaborative community of learners.
Most of my students come from a low socioeconomic background, which is why it is important that they have access to a variety of resources.
My students have limited access to technology and other educational resources. I believe that they deserve to have access to quality materials that help them positively engage with one another.
My Project
As my students begin to explore and use our classroom "Zen Den", they have really bought into using the space to help cool themselves down, or if they just need a mental break from the lesson. I have incorporated a couple of fidget tools to the space, but this project would help provide a larger collection for my students to choose from.
Fidget tools are not "toys" because as one of my students put it, "tools help fix things, and toys are something we play with."
The various tools included in this project range from fidget spinners, stress balls, pop-its, and even a plush toy. Every student has individual needs, and it is important to provide a range of tools for them to engage with.
