My Students

Children with special needs, especially children with Autism, need sensory and fidget items to help calm down, focus, and learn adaptive responses for what they may lack or crave.

In my past 13 years of teaching, I have been lucky enough to work with many students who have had Autism or other disabilities.

Currently, there are 11 second grade students in my classroom, two of which are on the Autism spectrum. We have a very high population of low income students and many students with high social and emotional needs. Sensory items often times help calm students, help the focus and help them fill voids in their sensory diet.

My Project

With more fidgets, students will be able to fuel their minds in a positive way. It will help them focus on learning, take learning breaks that are beneficial to them, and calm those that need it. A variety of fidgets were chosen because different types appeal to different learners.

My students and I would appreciate any donation, large or small, you are able to contribute.
