Watching their faces light up as they place a character on the box and hear their favorite tune or storyline has been truly heartwarming. Before, basketballs were stored in bins that were difficult for students to access. Now, with organized racks, students can quickly grab and return equipment, which saves time and keeps transitions smooth. This helps maximize activity time and minimizes the chaos that can come with managing large groups of energetic kids.\r\n\r\nBeyond organization, the racks also promote responsibility and pride in taking care of our equipment. Students learn to treat the materials they use with respect and to take ownership in keeping our space tidy and ready for the next class. Because I have the privilege of working with every student during whole group instruction, nearly 80 students get the opportunity to use our light-up table on a regular basis. It has quickly become a favorite spot in the classroom, and the excitement on their faces when they get to sit there is absolutely priceless.\r\n\r\nThe light-up table isn't just a fun addition—it's an incredible learning tool. We use it for a variety of activities, including building with Magna-Tiles, exploring letter trays, and engaging in hands-on learning experiences that make concepts come alive. It has helped foster collaboration, creativity, and focus in a way that traditional tables simply can't.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping create such a special and engaging space for our students. This year our team is diving deeper into strengthening the fluency skills for our first graders. The sight word games have added a fun approach to practicing our words. \r\nAs first graders, we have a tendency to be loud. Having whisper phones has been an immense help to keeping the noise level lower allowing the students to be able to focus more on their reading and not get distracted.\r\nWe have departmentalized and assigned specific ELA skills to be taught by certain teachers. The writing teacher is really focusing on having the students work on their penmanship and writing letters the correct size. The new markers and white board strips have been amazing to use! The students ask on a daily basis if they can write on these!\r\nAgain, a sincere thanks for choosing to make a difference in the lives of my students. One may wonder why rhyming is considered an important reading skill. It reinforces phonemic awareness, develops memory and sequencing, uses sound repetition and improves sound discrimination as the students listen carefully to the sounds that are the same and different in rhyming words.\r\nAs First Graders, it is often time challenging to find engaging materials that help my students to conquer a skill area that has been difficult to find success. My students have absolutely LOVED the hands -on games that were purchased with the funds for this project. At least twice a week they are asking if they can play the rhyming games! Seeing them smile as they make rhyming pairs/families let's me see that their confidence is building as their rhyming skills continue to increase, leading to more success as readers.\r\nThank you once again for choosing to help fund my rhyming project. THANK YOU for making this dream come true!\r\nA great component of these decodable books/stories is that they are short in length. My students are just beginning to put their reading skills into play by connecting letter sounds. They are able to quickly find success with these short books.\r\nDecodable books allow my students to be able to work on building their phonemic awareness skills.
