My Project

First grade is a critical time for students to become readers. In additional to explicit phonics instruction, students need to be motivated to read more complex books to learn more about educational themes and prepare them for a literature rich world.

These popular first grade series by well loved authors will enhance my students' reading and overall learning experience with a fiction addiction book club!

We will work in small groups together to start an exciting book study! Students will collaborate and borrow their own copy of Junie B. Jones, Cam Jansen, Magic School Bus, Magic Tree House, and more. These chapter books allow students to put their phonics instruction into practice while learning about science, social studies, and friendship.

This small group environment provides more personalized instruction where students can learn from each other. Multiple book sets mean that groups can rotate and have enough to read throughout the year! This book club will help us move forward with comprehension and reading fluency in a fun, safe place with popular first grade books.
