This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
A Thunder Laser Aurora 8 60 watt fiber laser with a rotary chuck and 2 additional lenses will be a beneficial tool for our STEM school's makerspace for several reasons:
Versatility:
Material compatibility: The 60-watt fiber laser can engrave on a wide range of materials commonly used in STEM projects, including metals, plastics, wood, and acrylic. This allows students to experiment with different materials and create prototypes for various applications.
Marking and engraving: It can mark permanent designs, logos, or serial numbers onto their creations, adding a professional touch and aiding in organization.
Fine details: The fiber laser technology enables highly detailed and precise engraving, allowing students to create intricate designs and components for their projects. This can be crucial for projects involving microfluidics, electronics, or delicate mechanisms.
Introduction to laser technology: The laser cutter introduces students to a valuable technology used in various industries like manufacturing and product design. This can spark their interest in these fields and open up future career paths.
Prototyping and design iteration: The laser allows for rapid prototyping, enabling students to quickly create and test different design iterations, fostering an iterative design process.
Personalization and customization: Students can personalize their projects by engraving designs, logos, or even their names, adding a unique touch to their creations.
Overall, the Thunder Laser Aurora 8 60 watt fiber laser, the rotary chuck and the 2 additional lenses will be a valuable tool for our STEM school's makerspace, promoting creativity, precision, and learning about relevant technologies.
