My students love being creative! My school is a Title I school that is located in a small rural community. I want to give my students a wide variety of artistic mediums to explore their own creative powers. I hope with help from donors choose that my classroom can get some very much needed supplies for learning and creative exploration.
EME is full of creative energy and curiosity.
I hope to help my 800 roadrunners to achieve their dreams by helping them expand their creative minds and apply these skills to all subjects in their school endeavors.
My Project
These materials will allow all of my students to explore the world of fiber in their art making. Yarn wrapping, weaving, sewing, embroidery, and felting will be explored by PreK-5th grade students! This project will bring these wonderful skills to approximately 800 students at East Milton Elementary School. These are great lessons to achieve many state standards, but also improve life skills that will be used for a lifetime. Projects will include: Butterfly yarn sculptures, chameleon yarn wrapping, cats and sweaters, finger knitting, recycled material embroidery, circle weaving, tree weaving, soft sculpture food, hand made sewn monsters, worry dolls, and heart yarn sculptures. There will also be introductions to needle felting and the entire process of creating spinning yarn! It is a joy to share fiber art with children!
