This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever being in a technology class where there are not enough computers in the classroom. It can be very frustrating for students and the teacher. Each student deserves to have their own computer when working in a technology assignment.

My students are excited to learn more technology.

These are young motivated individuals. They enjoyed participating in the Hour of Code where they learned how to code for an hour. Our school has the biggest enrollment of students in our district with over 4,000 students. During the hour of code week, we reached over 700 of our students who learned how to code that week. We're trying to get all students to code by the end of the school year. Not all students take a computer class and our goal is to have as many students as possible enroll in our technology classes to teach them problem solving skills, which will benefit their future.

My Project

With the laptops in a mobile cart, we are able to take computers to different classroom that don't have enough computer for students. These students can use the laptops to be able to code, or create technology related projects. The iMac computer will be in Mrs. Florian's room who currently has 28 iMacs. By having a extra IMac, Mrs. Florian will have a more complete computer lab. All her students need a computer to be able to work in their assignments. These assignments will include learning how to code, and creating projects using different software applications. The students will use programs like Scratch, Alice, App inventor to create animations, games, and apps. Some classes will create websites using HTML and some will use Microsoft Office, and Adobe applications to learn how to use the program.

This project will enhance student learning.

The laptops will allow students to learn, create and use technology effectively. Because the laptops are mobile, more students can use them at different times. Computing is part of everything we do! Expertise in computing enables students to solve complex, challenging problems. Since future career success will depend, in part, or familiarity with computer science we want ensure that the students in our school have this opportunity
