Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The first-grade students that I work with have been so amazing! Despite the challenges of distance learning students and families have been working so hard to ensure that they are learning. My students are majority Latinx and bilingual or trilingual. I have loved to learn more about my students despite the struggles of distance learning. I have gotten to know their distinct personalities and interests.
It has been such a joy to get to know students!
My Project
I have chosen materials that I believe will be instrumental in using the Kimochi curriculum to facilitate social-emotional learning. The three larger characters will help students learn the different skills that are essential in first-grade such as taking turns, being brave, and sharing.
Students will have access to hands-on learning to talk and learn about their feelings.
These feeling characters will be used during community circles and social-emotional lessons as well as a tool for conflict resolution. I have included two posters, one in English and one in Spanish, in order to help students develop the vocabulary to talk about their feelings.
