Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 5th grade students come from low income homes and their disabilities range from behavioral to academic. They are difficult to reach and therefore as a teacher I want to elevate their personal understanding and build their self-esteem and social skills.

My students feel at times isolated by others and they need a sense of community.

They spend so much time with each other in the classroom and I want to give them a sense of unity. They are a lively bunch that just need the tools to unite them and make them feel special and it would also be able to have a comprehension of new technology which is crucial in the world we live in today.

My Project

My students need the Cricut in order for them to have lasting learning materials and a classroom bonding experience. I teach fifth grade in a Title 1 school, therefore my school's population is very diverse; all of the children in my classroom have different backgrounds and life experiences. Our classroom materials are scarce and limited and the students at times feel out of place.

One of the experiences I would like to provide my students in my classroom is a sense of community.

My students will be able to make their own classroom t-shirts in order for them to feel a sense of ownership and value. They will be using every material to be able to enhance their work of art and make them fell special. The different vinyl colors will give them a sense of ownership and they will feel unique in doing this.
