The New School of San Francisco is a public school that currently serves students from Kindergarten to 6th grade. This year I have the privilege of teaching Kindergarten!
In this unprecedented year, we plan to bring school to our students in entirely new and creative ways.
As a kindergarten teacher, creating a welcoming introduction into school for students and families is essential. Our cohort is diverse by design - socioeconomically, racially, and in terms of family structure. Students join our school from almost every zip code in San Francisco and this year we will be starting the first month of school from our homes.
My Project
With safety as our highest priority, we need your help! As an inquiry-based school, we have a big question:
How can we provide connection and meaningful learning in a safe, supportive, and joyful way?
These materials would allow for students to kick off the school year with hands-on learning materials. Our school is planning on creating boxes with physical supplies that students can daily engage with (games galore!). When it's safe to go back together, this project also provides kid-friendly PPE with a flair of fun (animal bucket hat masks)! Thank you in advance for making our upcoming school year feel safe, meaningful, and joyful!
