Feeding Our Bodies as Well as Our Minds

Help me give my students juice boxes, granola bars, and cereal to help them to focus and sustain their bodies throughout the day.

My Project

My students are awesome! They come from diverse backgrounds, but they come ready to learn and soak up new experiences. Although our school is in a rural community, we have a diverse population of students. Many of our students are fairly new to our country and are just learning to speak English.

My classroom is a place where kids can come together to learn and have fun regardless of their differences or needs.

Throughout the school year, we work hard to improve academically, socially, and emotionally, and we build relationships within the community.

Students are often hungry and in need of a snack throughout the day. Each day, our students start out in homeroom. I have many homeroom kids who are hungry once the day starts...asking for snacks, stopping in part way through the morning to see if I have anything for them. Each month we have extended homeroom and I try to provide juice or hot chocolate and a granola bar.

Feeding our bodies is often critical to feed our minds. When students are able to focus on learning and not their growling stomaches they are able to learn and retain information. Thank you for supporting our students.
