My Project

This school year, I have a very diverse group of 5th graders. Although I have a smaller group size this year, my students come to school each day with their own baggage: homelessness, loss of a parent, health issues, etc. I want my students to be able to leave their baggage at the door when they enter my classroom and focus on trying to learn and succeed. This project will help me to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all of my students.

Motivation is a great way to get students to come to school and to try their best to learn.

This is why I requested the various snacks and prizes that students can work towards earning. Food is the biggest motivator in my class right now, and my snack cart needs restocking. Other students prefer to work towards earning fidget toys and stickers. This restock allows for my students to have many options to choose from.

Additionally, since my students come from lower income, I am continuously in need of basic school supplies like pencils and whiteboard markers. Up in the Northeast we have been plagued with a lot of snow this winter, so I added a few new games that my students could enjoy during our indoor recess.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
