This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Elementary students are confronted with a pressing issue: food insecurity among our students. Despite our best efforts, many of our students' families facing some type of economic challenges, making it difficult for them to access nutritious meals or snacks on a regular basis.

Hunger should never be a barrier to learning, for some students, it is a daily reality, especially when school is out of session.

During the summer months, this problem intensifies. With the closure of schools, some students lose access to vital school meal programs, placing an increased burden on already struggling families. Financial strain, limited availability of nutritious food, and challenges in meal preparation and supervision further exacerbate the issue, leaving many children vulnerable to hunger and malnutrition.

In addition to providing meals, we are committed to supporting the educational needs of our students throughout the summer. By addressing both food insecurity and educational needs, we can help set these children on a path to success and empower them to reach their full potential.

With your support, we can bridge the gap and provide these students with essential snacks and educational resources during the summer break. Your contribution will make a tangible difference in the lives of these young learners, ensuring they have the nourishment and support they need to thrive academically and beyond.
