Jacques Cousteau was once quoted as saying, "The sea, the great unifier, is man's only hope." In this science class, we have build a strong community around our shared love of the ocean and our wish to conserve local resources.
My high school students are curious and passionate about our neighboring marine landscape.
They have elected to enroll in an additional science course centered around the principles of ocean literacy so that they may develop a deeper understanding of the watery world. My students are thoughtful, kind, and enjoy sharing their learning with their peers. Their love for the ocean and compassion for its inhabitants have inspired me to create a laboratory experience that builds on their curiosity and engages them in the scientific process.
My Project
We need automatic fish feeders to be used with our class aquariums. Our class is caring for several different aquariums that they have designed and built themselves. The feeders will be used with the aquarium ensure that the fish receive proper nutrition over long weekends and school breaks.
The automatic fish feeders will allow my students to maintain a healthy aquatic ecosystem throughout the entirety of the school year.
Students will be implementing a strict diet plan with their aquatic community to ensure optimal fish health. Besides maintaining nutrition over breaks, the feeders will also allow students to precisely regulate the timing and quantity of food dispersal. These feeders will ensure that my class has a successful project with healthy fish!
