My students have used the new resources on two different occasions. First, my anatomy students used the Play-doh to model the muscles of the face. Then, my AP Biology students used the Play-doh to model inducible and repressible operons during our gene expression unit.\r\n\r\nMy students were very excited when they saw the Play-doh. We usually just color the muscles and draw the operons. Using the Play-doh allowed the students to create 3D models for a deeper understanding of the content.\r\n\r\nWe will be using the shrinky-dinks to create models into key chains to review for the upcoming AP Biology exam. It will provide a fun way to review during a time when the students are typically burnt out.","fullyFundedDate":1759691086377,"projectUrl":"project/biology-modeling-fun/9688863/","projectTitle":"Biology Modeling Fun!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rickert","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8247570_orig.jpg?crop=352,352,x17,y41&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1640030343637","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8247570"},{"teacherId":6172643,"projectId":9449302,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donation of refractometers, my students now have the opportunity to learn science in a truly hands-on and meaningful way. We are using the refractometers during our chemistry and environmental science units to measure the concentration of dissolved substances in liquids. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the refractometers, their reaction was a mix of curiosity and excitement. Many had never used professional lab equipment before, and they were eager to learn how it worked. As soon as they looked through the lens and saw the measurement scale appear, there were audible \"wow\" moments across the room. That excitement quickly turned into confidence as they realized they could successfully use the tools themselves.\r\n\r\nYour support has opened the door to deeper learning, and this is just the beginning. Next, students will use the refractometers in an ongoing project investigating water quality by testing samples from different sources and analyzing how environmental factors affect concentration levels. They will also design their own experiments and present their findings, strengthening both their scientific reasoning and communication skills. Thank you for giving my students a glimpse into authentic scientific inquiry and helping make our classroom a place where learning comes alive.","fullyFundedDate":1757563017290,"projectUrl":"project/seeing-the-sea/9449302/","projectTitle":"Seeing the Sea","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Gorczynski","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp6172643_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1546127821497","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/ms-gorczynski"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_94740","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":2768,"numTeachers":98,"percentFrplEligible":35,"percentAsian":6,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":51,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":32,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"28.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":86.9,"schoolId":94740,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about San Juan Hills High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"San Juan Hills High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/capistrano-unified-school-district/san-juan-hills-high-school/94740"}
