Feed Our Hunger to Learn

My students need a variety snacks and treats. These are used as motivators, rewards, and help tame their grumbling tummies.

My Students

Our students are special in their own ways. We do everything we can to bring that to the forefront of their education. We celebrate differences and uniqueness. We serve students impacted with autism and or communication disorders. They are amazing and work hard at both academic and functional goals.

We are always doing our best to be up to date with new, engaging, and research based practices.

Our teachers work incredibly hard to do everything in their power to give their students the best opportunities to learn and grow. Our staff works together in so many formats and have had a lot of success. As we move towards a more inclusive school, the general education and special education teachers have begun to explore co-teaching models and the most effective and efficient ways to provide in-class support to our students.

My Project

Each year, our special education department spends a large amount of money on snacks and treats for our students. As our students grow, so do their appetites. Having a supply of snacks including popcorn, crackers, and juice on hand helps us tame their grumbling tummies until their next meal. Snacks are also used as a break for students. Crunchy foods provide sensory input to our students as well as a calming break. We use a variety of candies such as gummy worms, skittles, and starbursts as motivational tools and rewards for students throughout the day.

These consumable materials are essential to our program and rack up quite a bill by the end of each year!

The items on our list will last in storage for awhile. The snacks and treats will not expire before we are able to use them. This will also save us all the extra trips to the store for treats and snacks!
