Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing young people. They overcome obstacles everyday to just be able to do what most people do everyday.

My students thrive when participating in hands-on experiences, and movement.

They not only want to learn, but they want people to expect them to learn.

My students want people to look beyond the disability and see the extraordinary human beings they are, capable of great things. They come from very low income families and do not have many opportunities to be involved in the community other than what we do within the classroom.

My Project

Full bellies= thinking minds. Often, for various reasons, my students come to school without breakfast and it is hard to concentrate on an empty belly. The food requested would be kept in the room to hand out to those who miss breakfast, and for emergencies.

Personal hygiene is something we work on in class.

Dental care can cause sensory issues and we work on this in class and then send the items home for parents to have and work on in the home. It can get chilly and sometimes students come without jackets. While I cannot have extra jackets for all I can use the gloves to help keep little hands warm.
