My Students

How can you learn the joys of true literature, gripping stories like the tales of Jack London, when you have never had the chance to come across his work?

My students are wonderful 5th graders who are eager to have more choices in their classroom library.

Our school has gone through so many cuts, that the school library is lacking all sorts of books, and soon we won't even have a librarian! By keeping my own classroom library with interesting options, my students will continue developing Language skills against the odds...

My Project

My students love stories that involve nature and powerful characters. That is why "White Fang" is perfect for our "Response to Literature" part of the Language Arts Program. I have observed how much they loved "Hatchet", for example, and the classroom discussions led to great Book Reports later. I think "White Fang" will excite them in a similar way, and this will reinforce their evolving Critical Thinking and Writing Skills..

There is absolutely nothing as valuable as Classic Literature in a developing mind.

While reading is always good, only through exposure to great stories is how children get a glimpse of a richer world, and the experience might change them forever... I am planning to use this resource in classroom discussions, after a read aloud in small group settings. This will encourage a better understanding of topics such as "Theme" and "Genre".
