This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a middle school librarian, I read a lot. These are just some of my top picks for 2022!

Reading aloud to students is not just for elementary.

Even middle school students enjoy the relaxing experience of listening to a story being read to them. I've included some picture books for older readers that cover topics such as the Holocaust and conservation. Picture books are a great way to spark conversations with students. They also help create connections in a way a textbook cannot. I have a program where I visit homerooms and read to students. This is usually the day after a test when students just want to rest their brains and reset.

Most books feature diverse authors and characters as I'm trying to update my school library to fit the diversity of 21st-century schools in Los Angeles. With past DonorsChoose projects, I'm a few steps closer!
