My Project

My 8th grade mathematics students and special education students are ready to discover, explore, and learn! Each and every one are exceptional and unique in their own way, and they are eager to understand and excel in mathematics!

Our school is nestled in the heart of Kauai, and our wonderful students are full of energy and curiosity!

We incorporate a variety of projects, learning strategies, and alternative learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!

For this project, students will explore the mathematical concepts underlying the design, creation, and business aspects underlying the creation of fashion. Students will begin by developing a unique digital design, integrating mathematical concepts of geometry. Students will then prep for the creation of a personally designed shirt, integrating concepts of measurement. Students will then explore a fictional business plan to sell their product in their community, integrating concepts of algebra. As a class, students will have an opportunity to explore real possibilities of marketing and selling a product to the community to raise funds for the school.
