Fantasy Fiction for Fabulous Kids!

My students need popular fantasy books for a unit of study on fantasy fiction! These include 3 Percy Jackson and The Olympians Boxed Sets, 3 of the "The Dark is Rising" 5-book sets, and 3 copies of "A Hero's Guide to Deadly Dragons."

My Students

My amazing 6th grade students NEED more books for independent reading. We will be starting a genre study on fantasy books and we simply need more good books!

I teach in a part of New York that is basically ground zero for childhood poverty.

Most of my students are receiving free or reduced lunch and very few have books at home. This year, we have grown so much as readers. In the beginning of the school year, most of my students were reading multiple grade levels behind. Now, many are reading at or above grade level. All of this is due to our implementation of TCRWP in our English classes.

My Project

With your help, we can grow even more as readers. Undertaking a genre study of books is a challenging and amazing endeavor. The only way we will be able to do this in the 2012 school year is by the financial support of donors like you. With budget cuts increasing, there simply is no funding left to purchase the materials my students so desperately need.

This project is vital to the growth of my students as readers.

We have grown so much this year, and we must keep the momentum going. Thank you for considering our project and for your commitment to education and our collective future. God bless.
