Coming from a dual language classroom, our students are intelligent, mindful, and eager to learn. They love reading together and enjoy the adventures that books take us on. We have a wide range of cultures in our classroom and love to explore every single one of them.
Our students are passionately curious to say the least.
When they don't know something they know exactly where to look...the library! Reading in my classroom is not only entertaining, it's appreciated. Our students are little explores and dive into reading as often as they can.
Coming from a Title-I school, it's really hard for us to get funding to buy books that are not just culturally relevant but also rich in information. These graphic novels will be used as our first read aloud to kick off the school year. We will be analyzing vocabulary, deciphering characterization, unraveling sequence, and exploring culture. We will also tie this into our writing component in class and have students write about what they are reading and how they are feeling throughout this dynamic book.
"Ghosts" (Fantasmas) is a very popular read in 4th grade from our struggling readers to our advanced readers.
It's captivating enough to catch their attention and make connections to their own lives.
