Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hardworking, thoughtful, capable, driven and enthusiastic in learning. My students want to be entertained; they want to have fun, but above all, they want a good education. These kids come in everyday eager to consume meaningful and thought-provoking material. I want to provide students with information that makes them think and motivates them to want more. Information that also challenges them and tests them to the very limit of their capabilities. My students are in middle school and they’ve seen other inspiring teachers influence their lives. Having said that, they want something different; specifically, they want a different way of learning and variety of teaching methods. I know that my class is capable of handling it.
My Project
My classroom and school is super old. Which means that my "air conditioning" unit is also super old. It's ancient. Throughout the day my students and myself find that our class has turned into a sauna. It's hard for my students to concentrate in the hot environment. It's also hard for me to spend hours in a classroom that hot.
It's important to give my students an environment that they are comfortable in and can concentrate.
I already have three fan units in my class and even with those its still hot. It helps students in the area by the fan but others luck out. The combined fans also sound like a turbine. It's noisy and hard to talk and listen. I know that my students would appreciate the noise reduced fans. Thank you!
