Family Ties Tie-Dye Tuesdays!

Help me give my students an understanding that our classroom is a family where every individual belongs. While we are all the same in our shared humanity, our unique differences are exactly what make us great!

My Project

Help the 3rd Grade students of BES discover that while we are all wonderfully different, we are beautifully connected. The 3rd Grade teachers want to bring our classrooms together through a hands-on project that celebrates diversity and boosts literacy. We will be creating tie-dye shirts together! While every student will start with the same white shirt, each design will turn out completely unique. The shirts will serve as a reminder that we are all equal, but our differences make us special.

The goal is to encourage acceptance and inclusion and help students with different backgrounds succeed.

The books will be used to share stories centered around diversity to promote inclusion through literacy. Academic activities will include listening, speaking, and writing.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
