Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Learning can be fun! I teach a combination class of 1st and 2nd graders. Our school encourages collaborative group work and problem solving skills, in order to support our kids in becoming independent learners. My students are encouraged to learn through independent exploration and by engaging with each other. They work together on a daily basis and share their ways of thinking. The collaboration and hands-on activities help create confident students.
My students are amazing and I want to prepare them for their future.
They enjoy coming to school every day and are eager to learn and do their best. They are genuinely excited about learning new things. They come from different cultural backgrounds, as well as diverse socioeconomic groups. Our school, in general, has a very diverse student-body, of which more than half are second language learners.
My Project
1st and 2nd grade students love to explore and experiment. They are very creative and not afraid to try new things. These reusable take-home packs get kids solving problems like real engineers! Each pack includes everything families need to complete a hands-on activity that introduces an exciting engineering occupation.
Engaging family activities for future engineers.
Students will work with their families to learn about architectural, aerospace, civil, transportation, computer, and mechanical engineering to develop skills in problem solving, perseverance, cause and effect, engineering practices and the design process.
The STEM Careers book set of 8 will also give students insight into real careers from sports engineer to sound technician—plus insider photos, fun facts, vocabulary and more.
Who creates special effects for movies or engineers the cars of the future? Someone with a STEM education!
